Dear CWTS Community,
Given the growing and widespread concern over COVID-19, we want to let you know accounting for your safety, that of our faculty and staff, and the whole community is our top priority. We are coordinating efforts very closely with our partners at the Division of Child Welfare (DCW). We are following the guidance of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to inform decisions regarding class and event cancellations.
Starting March 16, 2020, ALL CWTS classes and events will be held online. This includes pre-service training for new caseworkers (the Fundamentals), supervisors, and foster parents, as well as all in-service courses. We are working hard to ensure your online learning experiences are as positive and productive as your classroom-based instruction experiences.
Some CWTS in-service courses cannot be effectively adapted to a virtual platform and those classes will be cancelled. If you are currently registered for a course provided by the CWTS in March or April, please check our website regularly for important COVID-19 updates and the latest news related to classes and events.
If you are directly impacted by these changes, we will contact you with additional details. At this time, we are unable to determine the duration of these adjustments. We’ll remain connected and in communication throughout.
Per DCW, annual training requirements for recertification remain in effect (10 hours for hotline and hotline supervisors; 40 hours for caseworkers and casework supervisors). DCW has always accepted and will continue to accept a variety of training activities. For more information about ways to earn training hours, please refer to this document.
